P. Luly W.

I’m allergic to San Antonio 🙁

As a military brat & now a military wife, I’ve lived in a lot of different places. Nowhere else has made me this miserable. Not talking about the people here, of course! Y’all are lovely. But the allergens here are awful! There are so many and the levels get very high. The worst is when the allergens cross contaminate with foods that would normally not bother me. So I never know when that lobster or cantaloup or so many of my favorite foods will cut off my airway & send me to the hospital. A fire ant bite could also be deadly for me. I have so much anxiety about going out here and it’s sad because I want to explore all of SA. Whenever I do venture out, I have to carry 2 epipens, benadryl, zyrtec, zantac, & prednisone.

Dr. Amanda Trott-Gregorio is my allergist (and unwitting therapist) and she is wonderful! She patiently listens to me as I gripe about how miserable I am. She reassures me that I won’t die if I take the necessary precautions and encourages me to keep exploring San Antonio. She never makes me feel like I’m taking up too much of her time and calmly answers all of my questions in a way that is easy to understand. Her whole approach is drastically different from my last allergist in town. There, I was made to feel like cattle. Rushed in and out in 5 minutes with unanswered questions. But that’s not the case with Dr. Trott-Gregorio.

The staff here is also great. I’m not a fan of being poked and prodded. But when I have to have allergy tests done, the nurse (wish I remember her name) is very quick and as gentle about it as can be. The front office staff will call with appointment reminders and they are familiar with my insurance (Tricare). It’s nice not to have to worry about payment issues as well.

I’m glad I left my previous allergist and started coming to Stone Oak Allergy. I wish Dr. Trott-Gregorio could cure me. But alas, she’s not God. She is, however, a wonderful allergist. She listens and arms me with me enough weapons against these awful allergens so that I can survive my time in TX (663 days left and counting). I would gladly recommend Dr. Trott-Gregorio to anyone.
